CASE STUDY ON SALLY Moyo sanni BIOLOGICAL • The biological perspective is a way of looking at psychological issues by studying the physical basis for animal and human behavior. The basic cause of sally's problems based on the perspective is that she showed symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. According to this perspective if she does not receive help for her hyperactivity disorder her accusive need for attention and disruptive behavior will get worse. To improve her life sally can take medication that can aid her disorder. PSYCHODYNAMIC • The psychodynamic perspective emphasizes unconscious psychological processes (for example, wishes and fears of which we're not fully aware), and contends that childhood experiences are crucial in shaping adult personality. The basic cause of sally's problems according to the passage is that when she was growing up she did not receive enough attention. According to this perspective lifw sally does get help she will not be able to understand her true, deep-rooted feelings in order to resolve them. She can improve her life by trying to distinguish information about her past that she might not be aware is causing her to act the way she does. BEHAVIORAL • The behavioral perspective is all about acting throughout life as a result of some form of motivation or incentive. According to the perspective the basic cause of sally’s problems is she is acting out. She is behaving in an unruly manner in response to a lack of attention from her parents and her parents divorce. According to this approach if sally does not get help she will be unable to be obsvered to see what stimuli is causing her to behave the way she does. In order to get a better life sally should observe her behaviors and what they respond negatively to, in order to solve them. HUMANISTIC • Humanistic psychology is a perspective that emphasizes looking at the whole individual and stresses concepts such as free will, self-efficacy, and self-actualization. The cause of sally's problems according to the perspective is that due to her parents divorce and lack of attention she has obtained too much free will that she believes she can act as she likes. According to this perspective if she does not receive help she will not be able to understand her individual choices and responsibilities. In order to improve her life sally should know her worth and instill her values. COGNITIVE • The cognitive approach in psychology is a relatively modern approach to human behavior that focuses on how we think. The cause of sally's problems according to the perspective is that she thinks that her parents did not favor her and that her dad did not have time for her. If sally does not get help she will not be able to improve her decision making. To better her life sally should Maintain full engagement and be focused on what she does and thinks, she must also remember the benefits she will gain from the task.
