The monster – a ‘social animal‘?
1. Describe the differences between the words loneliness, isolation, solitude and
alienation. Go online and search for definitions if you need help.
2. In your group, talk about reasons why people might experience loneliness,
isolation, solitude or alienation. Discuss in what way the terms are related.
3. Discuss, which of the four terms describes the monster`s situation most
accurately, also considering the reasons that lead to his situation.
4. Create an infographic, commenting on the following quote:
‘I am malicious because I am miserable’ (p. 174, ll. 20-21).
Include your findings about:
 (non) human traits of the monster
 the monster`s situation regarding the 4 terms (loneliness, isolation,
solitude and alienation)
An infographic is a visual representation of information or data. Most often, it
is a collection of imagery, charts and short texts which makes abstract
knowledge easy to understand.
