The setting is a more conservative time period because the mother
emphasizes the speaker which is a girl her “innocence”
There were no clues to the setting through the story either just
context clues from dialogue
Preserving innocence and self respect was more important at the
time period the speaker was talking about
THe setting in the story is more of a backdrop to what is taking
place
Summary: The setting of a short story can provide a layer to the meaning of the story by
either representing symbols to the characters or vastly impacting the decisions of characters
in _the story. In the short story named “Girl” there is only dialogue in the story but given from
what the speaker is saying we can guess its a more conservative time period.
