5 Kind Tasks

5 Kind Tasks
It is currently 12:38 AM on Wednesday morning (09/30/2020) and I am really tired but
because the five kind tasks I had completed on Tuesday are still fresh on my mind, I am going to
write about it. I should note that both of my parents were home Tuesday and I truly enjoyed
helping others out. I can’t really say the same about actually writing it out.
Firstly, I assisted in making mooncakes today. This meant that I had to gather the
ingredients and precisely measure the ingredients on a food scale to a specific gram weight so
that there would be forty mooncakes. You might be asking why we are making so many? Well it
is because my parents have many relatives and friends who live close by and they love fresh
homemade food and desserts. My mom had never asked me to make them but since I had some
time to spare, and I chose to help out. I should have reminded my parents that I was allergic to
nuts (we made a few different types of mooncakes and some contained nuts) but I just ended up
not measuring the nut ingredients for my own safety. It might be ironic that I am helping to make
mooncakes because I absolutely dislike eating them.
After making the mooncakes, I went to the auto shop to pick up my dad’s car. As I have
mentioned in my daily journal, my dad’s car is almost on its last leg and we need to get another
car soon. But because my dad cannot speak much English, I had to go to the auto shop and pick
up his car. On the bright side, I took responsibility and paid for the most recent repair since I
have driven the car the most. Thankfully it wasn’t too expensive!
The third kind task I completed after picking up my dad’s car is babysitting my cousin’s
toddler. Since we had already made the mooncakes, it would only be right to give them out
accordingly after I went to pick up the car and drove to my cousin’s house. When I arrived my
cousin informed me he needed to head out because his refrigerator light needed to be replaced

(his wife was at work and his babysitter had left) and due to the current pandemic it would not be
best to bring a toddler to the local hardware stores. So, I offered to look after his toddler. I had a
hard time looking after a naughty toddler since he refuses to be potty trained and likes being the
boss of everyone. Luckily it was only for an hour and I was home by 5:30pm.
When I arrived home, I noticed that some things around the house needed to be cleaned. I
decided to clean the floors and organize the pile of my brother's endless college mail. Again, I
was never asked to do anything. On the bright side, my brother has a better idea of what colleges
he is applying to and is almost done with his college essay.
Finally, as midnight approached, I was roaming around the pantry for a snack and I found
a big bag of Munchies. While I was rummaging through, I noticed that the pantry needed to be
organized. So, I organized all of the pantry’s items (everything from snacks, canned goods, tea,
and breakfast goods). After organizing the pantry, I brought the Munchies to my room to eat
while writing out the five kind tasks I completed today.
After doing all of these kind things I did feel better as a person who could help others.
Would I do it again? I probably would but maybe not as many kind tasks in a single day.
Although it would be nice if I could help others, the lurking flu season and coronavirus will not
permit.
