A. Brainstorming for Possible Persuasive Speech Topics. [Rubric: Quality of topics,
relevant to the theme] (3).
Your Theme is:
Brainstorm a few topics and list as many ideas that come to your mind while evaluating your
theme. Make sure that your topics are specific. Do not just list name of technologies. The given
theme challenges you to explore critical issues surrounding different technological innovations
taking place right now and their impact. Understanding what the theme means is important to
brainstorm about possible topics.

B) Audience Analysis: Now conduct an audience analysis to assess your audience’s
characteristics and their knowledge about the selected subject area. List down the
characteristics of your audience. [ Rubric: Information should be coherent and relevant to
the type of event identified. Your demographics should be in sync, for example, if age group
is children their education level cannot be PhD’s]

setting, you are ready to select an appropriate topic. Specify a topic for your speech. The
selected topic should be appropriate for the audience level. You should make sure that they
learn something new from your speech. [Rubric: Quality of topic, relevant to the theme,
serving the purpose of the speech and engaging with the audience.] (2)
Go over your topics and see the complexity level of these topics according to your audience.
Eliminate them. Are some topics likely to bore the audience and you cannot think of any way to
pique their interest? Eliminate them. How does the audience’s demographic profile mesh with each
topic?
