Collect supplies/verify order Wash Hands Identify patient/intorduce self Tilt patient’s head at a 70 degree angle Insert swab into nostril (Swab should reach depth equal to distance from nostrils to outer opening of the ear.) 6. Leave swab in place for several seconds to absorb secreations 7. Remove swab 8. Give patient a tissue to wipe nose 9. Place swab in proper testing apparatus 10. Collect supplies/verify order Wash Hands Identify patient/intorduce self Cleanse patient’s finger Complete finger stick with lancet Hold the pipette horizontally to the blood sample. (Do not press the pipette, once it is held to the blood sample it will draw up the correct amount needed.) 7. Align the pipette with sample over the “sample well” of the test and squeeze the pipette to release the blood sample. 8. Add 2-3 drops of developer solution (blue lid) to the blood sample in the sample well 9. Read results in 8 minutes. (See manufacutres instructions) 10.
