Duration Activity 5 mins Starter: Children warm up singing the rhyme Incy, Wincy Spider The previous lesson is reviewed.(Google Slide) Children identify each sound and do the actions (jolly phonics style) 5 mins Connect: Alpha Term 2021/2022 Children will be told there are other sounds and the teacher reveals the next sound and asks the children to look for the sound under their chairs and say the sound once it is found. Teacher will introduce new sounds and actions. Teacher will show pictures of objects that are associated with the sounds. Writing each sound properly is taught in the air and on the white board. 10 mins Activate. Model soundtalking each sound in the word and then blending the sounds together and saying the final word. Ask the whole class to repeat this process. Children soundtalk the word and blend it to say the word. Children discover how many sounds are in each word as they sound talk the words. 15 mins Demonstrate: L.A - Children identify the pictures and listen for the sounds at the beginning. Match the pictures with the beginning sounds. M.A - Children will sort, cut and glue the pictures of initial sounds into their sound boxes. Children practice forming the letters in the sand tray in the air and their books. H.A- learn to blend simple vc/cv words then cvc words with set 1 & 2 sounds. Children practice forming the letters in the sand tray, in the air and their books. H.H.A- Children choose pictures from the set and write the beginning sounds or words beside each picture. 5mins Consolidate: Click on the link.
