Guide Line for Standalone MSDH Plant.
Fuel Ethanol from B-Heavy SDS
1. Proper recording of purchased SDS from B-heavy molasses and SDS from C- heavy molasses
from outside sugar factory is to be maintained in log book on day to day basis.
2. The purchased SDS of CHy and B-Hy molasses to stored in separate Storage tanks. The C-Hy and
B-Hy SDS tanks should have proper identification labeling in different colours. e.g. SDS from CHy molasses the labeling may be darker brown, whereas, SDS for B-Hy molasses in lighter
brown colour.
3. Separate pumps with no interconnecting pipeline to be used for both types of SDS so as to send
to process having proper identification marks and colour coding. Under the normal
circumstances, no underground pipelines shall be used for the purpose.
4. The ethanol unit is required to produce analysis report of purchased SDS of B-heavy from NSI/
VSI or any accredited laboratory or any competent laboratory as designated by state
Government shall be taken up.
5. The ethanol unit has to produce transport certificate of purchased SDS of B-Heavy molasses
from state excise officials.
6. PD Flow meter should be provided to ascertain the respective SDS of B-Heavy molasses sent out
to process and for dispatch. The PD flow meter should be calibrated from authorized agency.
7. Fuel ethanol ( product ) from B-Hy and C-Hy should be stored in separate storage tanks. The CHy and B-Hy fuel ethanol (product)tanks should have proper identification labeling in different
colours. e.g. SDS from C-Hy molasses the labeling may be darker brown, whereas, SDS for B-Hy
molasses in lighter brown colour.
8. Separate pumps with no interconnecting pipelines to be used for both types of ethanol
(Ethanol from B-Hy SDS and ethanol C-Hy SDS) so as to dispatch having proper identification
and colour coding
9. The ethanol unit shall be operated with one type of feed stock at a time. Any intermixing of the
two different qualities of SDS shall be avoided.
10. The unit shall be switchover the feed stock after prior permission of state excise officials or any
competent authority as designated by State Government.
11. The unit has to be record receipt, consumption and stock of SDS, production, sell and stock of
ethanol, as well as distillation efficiency of the ethanol plant on daily basis.
12. The unit has to produce transport certificate of Fuel ethanol produced from B-Heavy molasses
SDS from state excise officials.
13. For avoiding intermixing of both type feed stocks or final products, VSI should arrange
minimum two visits for inspection , validation and detail assessments.
