Character Project Worksheet Character projects can be a great way into your character and serve as excellent aspects pre-show rituals… below are listed four three. Other successful options I’ve seen are power points, animoto’s, blogs, drawings etc. The character projects are aimed at helping you explore and get to know your character. You get as much out of your character project as you put into it, and everyone is different so feel free to try out a few. It’s not about doing this project as a grade, or for credit, its about finding different ways you can explore yourself and the world. Hopefully through the exploration of your character you discover something new about yourself and the world. As you go through the exploration of your character we encourage you to add to your project, so it’s highly encouraged you do this over a period of time (not in one night). Use your character worksheet as a guide and then break away from it as you find out more about your character. There are no wrong answers (as long as your stay within the parameters of what is known already known about your character). COLLAGE/TRIFOLD- create a collage of words and pictures that help explain your character. The items you use should represent who your character is, their thoughts, feelings, fears, ideas, goals, etc. Fill your collage with as many things as you can. SOUNDTRACK- create a soundtrack that represents your characters life. Think about songs that would mean a lot to them and the experiences they’re going through. You can create a sound track for a specific period of time for your character or a soundtrack that represents the span of their life up until present time for your character (aka how old they are in the show). Personally this is my favorite way to get in character before a show… I pick songs the help me get to the emotional state my character is in, and helps me remember my characters story/purpose- Lindsay JOURNALING- create a journal as your character. You can do this many different ways. You can create a journal that helps you work through your characters journey up until present time (aka how old they are in the show), you can focus on your characters development in the show, you can journal about character discoveries you have after rehearsal and about your performance, etc. The list goes on…whatever helps you explore your character. CHARACTER BOX- Create a keep sake box full of items that remind you of your character. It can contain special items important to your characters development and story… make sure you pick very specific items that commemorate important event in their life.
