Objective:
For this task, students are required to demonstrate placing a casualty into the recovery
position.
Disclaimer: This project requires a practical demonstration. Teachers and students should
only complete this project if they take appropriate COVID-19 precautions, such as using
hand sanitizer, wearing face masks and other PPE. Alternatively, students may choose
to create a video demonstration of their project at home.
Students must include the following points:

Name two things that you should look for when assessing a casualty at the scene
of an accident (2 marks) and describe how you would check for each (2 marks)
Explain what the recovery position is (1 mark)
Explain when a casualty should be placed in the recovery position (1 mark)
Demonstrate the seven steps taken to place someone in the recovery position (7
marks) and provide a verbal explanation of each step (7 marks)
Teachers may award up to 5 marks for student effort, presentation and participation.
