1- Determine the moment of inertia of the overhung crank about the x axis. The
material is steel having a density of 7850 kg/m3. (7 Points)
2- Each of the three members of the frame has a mass per unit length of 6 kg/m.
Locate the position (x, y) of the center of gravity. (6 Points)
Neglect the size of the pins at the joints and the thickness of the members. Also,
calculate the reactions at the pin A and the roller E. (4 Points)

3-The drum has a weight of 100 lb and rests on the floor for which the coefficient
of static friction is µ=0.5. If a=3 ft and b=4 ft, determine the smallest magnitude of
the force P that will cause impending motion of the drum. (7 Points)
4- The structure is subjected to the loading shown. Member AD is supported by a
cable AB and roller at C and fits through a smooth circular hole at D. Member ED
is supported by a roller at D and a pole that fits in a smooth snug circular hole at E.
Determine the x, y, z components of reaction at E and the tension in cable AB. (8
Points)

5- The figure shows a roof truss for a small factory. To accommodate the roof
sheeting, purlins are placed not only at the panel points A, B, C, D and E but also
mid-way between them. If the top chord members AB, BC, CD and DE are to be
all the same size, what are the values of the bending moment, shear force and axial
force for which these members must be designed? (8 Points)
