WHAT MY GOALS ARE FOR US- THESE SHOULD BE YOUR GOALS FOR THE WEEK! (**SWBAT= STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO **IOT=IN ORDER TO)
SWBAT- Understand central idea in Fiction and non-fiction text
IOT-Show evidence of comprehension in reading and written responses- Elements of central idea in Literature.
SWBAT- Close read a complex informational as well as fictional text and decipher critical components found within textual evidence to support
rationale for any and all queries required/ asked of them in Collections as well as ancillary Grammar and reading selections- With connections to
core standards as well as historical content for SS grade this week in particular looking at National Parks
IOT- Comprehend at or above grade level reading and prepare for TDA type assessment
SWBAT – Determine theme and central idea in the text- Close read Text as well as Collections Textbook, “Allied with Green” & “Balancing Rocks”
as well as Scope “Our Beautiful Town Is Gone”.
IOT-Apply this skillset to other pieces of literature namely this completion of homework from Collections books as well as Grammar Mini lessons on
-This week continuing with class notes/ Cornell notes, graphic organizers/ outlines/ protocols to ensure success….students are asked to provide
details and highly descriptive language-careful attention to imagery and figurative language in their writing.
SWBAT-Cite evidence from text to support their answers while using embedded vocabulary correctly
IOT-Develop higher order thinking skills and processes related to responding to TDA prompts (in the coming week’s assessment)
SWBAT- Complete a weekly Journal by applying strategies and methods shown to improve writing and by looking at example text to gain insight
into successful writing strategies. – This week is “Learning from a past mistake” – Prompt
IOT- Become better writers when answering questions on pssa type testing using some of techniques implored in fiction as well as non-fiction
course materials ie. (Collections, and primary source pssa documents as well as Grammar Mini lessons/ do-nows)
