Function configuration 4.1Surging current blocking function Criterion of Surging current blocking function is based on the second harmonic component ratio. During 5 seconds since current value rising from zero, device will calculate percentage value of second harmonic wave to fundamental wave. When this percentage value is larger than setting value, device will block overcurrent protection. Harmonic occupancy is calculated all the time. Once it is lower than setting value, besides, current value is also larger than setting value, then, device output overcurrent trip outlet. Aiming to avoid harmonic wave calculation error and error blocking overcurrent, software will exit surging current blocking criterion, as input current is lower than 0.05A (which is secondary value of CT). The second harmonic wave occupancy fixed value could be set in value menu of surge current blocking function. 4.2Three- stage overcurrent protection Device provides three-stage overcurrent protection such as instantaneous, time limited instantaneous and overcurrent. The front two functions have only definite time limited characteristics, but overcurrent could select four curve characteristics as definite curve, normally inverse curve, very inverse curve and extremely inverse curve. Formulas of the last three curves are shown as following: (Normal inverse curve): (very inverse curve): (extreme inverse curve): 7 Manual of intelligent (self-powered) protection device ST260E 式中 wherein: t - tripping time. T I〉 - time multiplier I - fault current Id - current setting value Action characteristics of definite time limited is shown Fig. 4.1; And three inverse curve are shown respectively as Fig.4.2, Fig.4.3, Fig.4.4. Fig.4.1: Action characteristics of definite curve. Fig.4.2: Action characteristics of normal invers curve 8 Manual of intelligent (self-powered)integral protection device ST260E Fig.4.3: Action characteristics of very inverse curve. Fig.4.2: Action characteristics of extremely invers curve 4.3Two-stage zero-sequence protection Device ST260E provides two-stage zero sequence protection, detecting fault current of earth grounding, its major application is system of neutral point insulation or compensation. The 1st stage protection has definite-time action-characteristics, the 2nd stage incudes four type curves such as definite curve, normal inverse curve, very inverse curve and extremely inverse curve. Device gets zero sequence current via two approaches, one is sampling from earth CT and the other is internal algorithm, each of two can be selected in earth mode item of system menu. For zero sequence current is very small in non-directly grounding system, it requires high sampling accuracy of device to detecting zero sequence current, so generally, sampling mode of zero sequence current is suggested from accessing special zero sequence CT. 4.4Two-binary input loops Device provides 2 binary input loops. Power voltage can be customized, pleas mark in your orders. Generally, without special description, binary input adopts external power supplying mode, voltage type is usually the same with device power supplying Binary input name can be defined by users, with options: 1) Normal binary (For short: signal 1/2) 2) Circuit breaker closed position (For short: BR On) 9 Manual of intelligent (self-powered) protection device ST260E 3) Circuit breaker opening position (For short: BR off) 4) Spring stored energy signal (For short: Ener. Full) 5) Spring un-stored energy signal (For short: Ener. Less) 6) Over temperature tripping (For short: over temp) 7) Heavy gas tripping (For short: Heavy gas) 8) External contacts (For short: Ext.TRIP) When selecting switch position or stored status, corresponding signal will be displayed in LCD interface of device. When binary input is defined as external trip contact, device detected closing input signal continuously 10ms, then device will output tripping. Generally, it can be used for transformer heavy gas or temperature protection, as well as connecting button to realize manual tripping. 4.5Impulse tripping output Active impulse tripping output terminal can send short-time impulse energy, this impulse output in pre-set manner to ensure circuit breaker trip. Impulse output wave is shown as Fig.4.5。 t Tripping output impulse width and output manner can be pre-set: setting range of output impulse width is 30ms~90ms; impulse output mode can be selected “single time” or “continuous”. If “single” mode is selected, when short-time impulse is detected, device only sends once impulse energy output; if “continuous” is selected, when short-time impulse is detected, device will sends impulse once per second until fault disappear. 4.6Signal indicting Green “RUN” indicator and red “trip” indicator are respectively embedded in front panel of device. Green “Run” indicator has three flashing-frequency: the 1st is 5times per second that means device has internal fault need maintenance; the 2nd is 2 times per second means that device runs normally; the 3rd is 0.25 times per second means that protection has been off. Lighting red “Trip” indicator means that device output tripping signal. 10 Manual of intelligent (self-powered) protection device ST260E 4.7Event record Device can record 100 history events each of which contains various types such as action of overcurrent, binary input of position placement, equipment fault and etc. each record includes timestamp of event occupation, various AC input value as event appeared, states of binary input and so on. Event record could not be lost when power is off, because they are storage in chip Flash. Event is recorded according to time sequence order. Device will automatically cover old record with the latest information as number of record in Flash is more than 100. 2 Manual of intelligent (self-powered)integral protection device ST260E 5.
