Box the glued sounds -all, -alt, and -alk in the story A Malt at the Mall Walt and Marshall are talking and they want to go to the mall for a malt. "Can we walk?" asks Walt? They use a map and a tall stick of chalk to make a path. They have a plan and "I think we can go, but what if my sister will stalk us?" says Marshall. "Your sister, Cristall?" Walt asks. "Yes," said Marshall, "We have to make a plan for her." They talk and think, talk and think, talk and think. They decide to tell Cristall that they will go to a class to do a lot of math and tell her they will not go to the mall. As Walt and Marshall talk, Cristall is in the hall. She can make a plan too, she thinks. Cristall will get into bed and act sick. When Walt and Marshall start to walk, she will jump up and run behind. They will not see her. If she is at the mall when they get to the malt shop, they will get her the malt she wants. Marshall calls, "Cristall!" and finds her in bed. "Yes!" he thinks, "We can go with no problem!" Off they go down the sidewalk. When they get down the lane, Cristall jumps up and runs behind them. After a bit, Walt can see the bush to the left go side to side. He suspects Cristall is tricking them. Walt slips and falls and yells, "I hurt my leg! The sidewalk has no salt! We must go back!" When Marshall checks on Walt, he tells him in a soft chat that he is not hurt, but Cristall is in the bush. Marshall yells, "Cristall! Get out!" Cristall jumps from the bush with a smirk. They all grin. "Cristall, you can trick with the best of us!" the men say. They all walk to the mall and get a malt. Write a 3 sentence summary of the story. Draw your favorite part of the story.
