The Art
of Cake
Decorating
By Daisy Mae Sheppard, Staff Writer
Cake decorating is the act of decorating a cake
to ensure it is visually pleasing. The decorating
process involves the use of frosting and other
edible decorative elements to achieve the desired outcome. The cake decorator can make a
character or a place out of cake. Special events
cannot be complete without cakes. For kid celebrants, the cake may be modeled after a cartoon character or a superhero and for adult celebrants, the cake can be modeled after their
favorite beverage, can have a miniature of them,
etc. As a cake decorator, you should be ready to
accommodate the weird requests of your customers.

What It Takes to Be a
Cake Decorator
By Jacquelline Rodriguez, Staff Writer
A cake decorator has mastered the art
of cake decorating as well as the taste
of the cake. They take baking and decorating classes to master their craft. After
that, they apply in the hospitality industry to gain some experience. Once they
are confident enough with their skills,
06
they can slowly open a business that
bakes and decorates cakes. The journey
to becoming a skilled cake decorator is
a long one, but definitely worth it. Your
drive and ambition will help you achieve
your desired future.

Tools That
You Need
As a Cake
Decorator
By Vicki Browne, Staff Writer
A cake decorator cannot start decorating
without their tools. As the saying goes, A
workman is only as good as his tools—this
rings true for all people who are good at
what they do. If you are a cake decorator,
you will be needing these tools:
Cake board
Cake leveler
Spatula and scraper
Turntable
Piping bags
Piping tips and couplers
These tools are needed for you to decorate
the perfect cake. So ensure these are complete to achieve your desired outcome.
