Bad News Messages
Running on Empty. Four months ago, you purchased a pair of Evion running shoes from Flying
Feet in the Safa Gold Mall. This brand of shoes is new on the market, but they seem remarkably
similar to the Nike shoes that you typically use, and since the Evions were on a special promotional
sale, you thought you would try them out.
You run five miles every other day and normally your running shoes last almost a year. This pair,
however, has worn out very quickly; the shoes have lost most of their traction and the soles are
becoming unglued. You feel that, in the course of daily wear, these shoes should last at least six to
eight months, and you want to inform the company that you do not think their product is
comparable with other shoes on the market.
Your mission is to compose a letter to the Customer Service Department, Evion Inc., 2941
Kulsoom Plaza, Blue Area, Islamabad. Explain your situation and let the company know that
perhaps they should implement a more rigorous program of quality testing, in order to produce a
more durable shoe. Suggest some ways in which they could improve their product.
