Imagine that aliens have removed all human life from philadelphia and erected a huge
barrier that allows plants and animals into philadelphia, but no humans. Philadelphia
has been abandoned. There is no one to mow the grass, clean the streets, or maintain
the buildings.

2. DRAW some part of philadelphia as it is today and as you predict it will look
after the number of years listed to the left.
3. LIST some of the types of plants and animals that you think would be present at
each of these time increments.
PHILADELPHIA
Modern concrete—used in everything from roads to
buildings to bridges—can break down in as few as 50 years.
A skyscraper will typically decompose after 500 years, with
windows breaking within the first 10 years, and rain seeping
in to erode the concrete, rust the steel, and plants taking
over within 50-60 years.
