impossible to help all people

Topic: It is impossible to help all people in the world, so governments should focus on people
in their own countries. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is true that the debation on targeted recipients of government support does not seem to
come to an end anytime soon. Although a nation’s providing international aid might come at
the expense of the local interests, foreign affairs solving should not be overlooked in its
foreign policy because of many broad-based benefits.
From an international perspective, overseas assistance can be beneficial for the world as a
whole and apparently all countries living within it. First, thanks to globalization, every nation
appears to be more dependent on each other, which means a country would not survive
without supporting other ones. For instance, in order to combat Covid-19 pandemic,
developed countries like Japan, America and so on have sent economic aid to deprived
regions in Africa, which help these countries partly scrutinize the disease situation on a
global level. Second, it has been proved that many impoverished cases accompanied by
poverty could not be solved without the assistance from foreign governments. If these
governments had not provided economic aid, many overseas lives could not have been
saved due to malnutrition or starvation.
From a national perspective, helping other countries can bring a myriad of advantages to a
nation. The government should be very conscious of their track records when it comes to
international responsibility as these are directly linked to national reputation. If a national
brand can gain in popularity, this nation’s standing on the global stage will be helped much,
especially in terms of political influence and trade power. In addition, foreign assistance may
give citizens an aura of national pride as they may feel having a chance to live in a such
humane country. This will help to instill love for the country into each resident, and in turn a
more sustainable and prosperous nation.
In conclusion, governments should not ignore international problems as well as miserable
people from the rest of the world. Every government needs to be held accountable for a
more harmonious world to ensure human well-being.
