Experiment 1 Implementation of Three Non-interacting Tanks in Series using MATLAB EEE4032 - Process Automation and Control NAME: Yashkaran Singh REG NO: 18BEI0122 School of Electrical Engineering,Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India February 11, 2021 Aim: To implement three non-interacting tanks in MATLAB and to get the step response and time constants. Experiment: Assume that you have three non-interacting tanks in series as shown in Fig. 1. The fluid resistances are given as R1 = 5, R2 = 4 and R3 = 2. The cross sectional areas for each tank are: A1 = 1m2 , A2 = 1m2 and A3 = 1.5m2 . Find the following: 1. Find the transfer function for Z3(s) as Z3(s) Q(s) 2. Find the time constants τ1, τ2 and τ3 3. Draw the step response of Z3(s) using MATLAB 4. Verify the steady-state value from both theoretical and MATLAB response 5. Find the z3(t) using MATLAB 6. Draw the function z3(t) from t = 0 to t = 50 using MATLAB Note: In all cases, specify line width as 1.5. Give labels and titles for all the figures. 1 Transfer function for Z3(s): 2 Time constants τ1, τ2 and τ3 3 Step response of Z3(s) using MATLAB 4.
