SPICE Chart
River Valley
Civilizations
Directions: Match the characteristics to the correct
category of SPICE using the reference - SPICE 5
Themes - to help you complete your chart.
1 Each Expert Group will have 15 minutes to
complete your Civilization’s SPICE Chart.
2. Then you will return to your Home Group where
each student takes a turn presenting their chunk of
information.
3 Meanwhile, the other students, in the Expert
Group, will listen carefully, complete their chart, and
ask questions – they are learning the material from
this expert, so this is their opportunity to make sure
they learn it right.
4 Once the first expert has gone, the others take
their turns. As each “expert” teaches their chunk of
content, the others in the group are learning it.
