ETI 2205 Analogue Electronics II Design and Simulation LAB Instructions: i) To be carried out in groups, each with at most two students ii) SUBMIT your work in a HARD (PRINTED) COPY, one copy per group, by 4:00 PM of the last Friday of the Semester. Your cover page should bear name (s), registration number (s), signature (s), and submission date. Task 1: Using BJT transistor 2N2222A, design and simulate (using appropriate software) a CE amplifier with lower cutoff frequency of 100 Hz and upper cutoff frequency of . Use voltage divider biasing with a single voltage source of 15 V. From your design: a) state and technically justify any assumption at the step it is made, b) list all design values of components in your configuration, c) calculate the amplifier’s bandwidth and justify why it is different from the one given above, d) determine the voltage and current gain, e) calculate the input and output impedance. From the simulation: f) output the bode plot from the simulator, g) indicate the critical frequencies on the bode plot. Are they different from the designed values? Justify your answer, h) compare all the designed and simulated values and explain any differences. Task 2 Design a one-stage common-emitter preamplifier that can amplify a 10 mV (rms) microphone signal and produce a 0.5 V (rms) output signal. The source resistance of the microphone is 1 kΩ. Use standard resistor values in the design and specify the value of β required. After your design, use BJT transistor 2N2222A to simulate your design model. State and justify any adjustments you make between designed and simulated values.
