My journal Entry for Today
I really enjoy working alongside the students and moving them
towards the goals that they set for themselves. I like to keep the
momentum going and not have a stagnant class of students. I am
continuing to learn more about how to best teach and encourage these
students and it has not been easy.
The verdict is still out as to if I think the overall session with Edgenuity
is the best for my students. When I looked at their learning log and
time report the next day, they all moved within the program to the
next unit and were ready to take a quiz or test. I told one student to
wait and start it at home and finish it in class. That student passed the
test, which was the last one to complete to earn that credit back.
Another student, who was working on geometry, made the corrections
after our session together and had the confidence to move on to the
unit test for her course. She will complete and earn that credit back
before the semester is over.
All in all, I will be not be boxed in, with a mind set that I have to do it
the way others may be doing it. Each student is different and there is
not magic pill that will always work to ensure student success yet, I
am using the tools that have been given and making the most of it with
what I have. I definitely want and will keep the collaborative piece in
this teaching practice with the students and continue to use high level
questioning. As they are learning, I am continuing to learn also. We
