HEALTH ASSESSMENT Unit no 4 Ayesha Naveed RN Conjunctivitis • This condition is characterized by hyperemia of the Conjunctiva • redness in the eye • diffuse dilatation of conjunctival vessels with redness • Mild discomfort • temporary mild blurring due to discharge • caused by bacterial, viral, allergy and irritation Acute angle-closure glaucoma • characterized by a rapid onset of unilateral inflammation with acute increase in intraocular pressure • severe eye pain • decreased vision • moderate pupil dilation • clouding of the cornea Types Ptosis • Ptosis is a drooping of the upper eye lid • caused by muscle weakness, or damage to the oculomotor nerve • Horner syndrome: damage to the sympathetic nerve supply Cataract • cataract is a clouding of the lens or • lens capsule of the eye that can result from trauma Types Macular degeneration • atrophy or deterioration of the macular disk • irreversible loss of central vision in people older than age 50 Corneal Arcus : gray or white arc visible below the outer part of the cornea Corneal Scar: A superficial grayish white opacity in the cornea, secondary to an injury or to inflammation. Entropion • An inward turning of the lid .The lower lashes, which are often invisible when turned inward, irritate the conjunctiva and lower cornea Ectropion In ectropion the margin of the lower lid is turned outward
