Project Title CLEAN UP, RICE UP!: FOR THE TRANSFORMATION OF BARANGAY NELINTAP, SAN CARLOS CITY, AN ENVIRONMENTAL FIGHT. b. Project Nature We then used to breathe fresh air, be surrounded by greenery, and drink clear, clean water. The tables have now been reversed, and we can see a significant shift from a clean to a contaminated world. As we all know, we are dealing with a slew of environmental challenges, including flooding, climate change, polar ice melting, and pollution. It could come from the air, water, or land. The main source of these issues is poorly disposed of waste. We want to restore what was destroyed, so we're going for a greener environment with lots of grasses and big trees. Those grasses that have become paved highways and those trees that have been planted in such a beautiful environment have become massive structures. The main reason of this is deforestation; people who unlawfully cut down trees for their personal convenience usually result in landslides. These trees can prevent floods and battle global warming, so if people keep doing the same thing, the system's equilibrium will be disrupted, resulting in significant losses not only to our environment but also to our way of life. As a student at the VMUF College of Education, I intend to devise a curriculum that will lessen the likelihood of those issues worsening. As a result, we devised a program that benefits not just our own neighborhood but also the rest of the world. It will also serve as an example for other communities to create similar activities in order to keep the environment clean and green. Project Duration December 2021 d. Project Location Barangay Nelintap, San Carlos City, Pangasinan, 2420, Philippines e. Project Beneficiaries The Barangay Clean-up initiative is aimed at all members of the community, particularly those residing in the province whose homes are vulnerable to floods and natural disasters. All residents of Brgy Nilentap are eligible to benefit from it. Its goal is to encourage all young people to participate in such activities for fun and for the environment's sake, while discouraging the burning of plastics. f. Community Project Counterpart The community project counterpart is the Values Education students of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation Education Department. h. Total Project Cost The project cost is Php _______ (Equipment’s needed and Foods) II. Project Description One of the most important things to consider while dealing with the neverending problem of garbage pollution in various communities is learning suitable waste management techniques. Unfortunately, some individuals still do not follow these guidelines, which is why there are so many candy wrappers, plastics, papers, sachets, and cigarettes littering the streets, waiting to be blown away by the wind or washed away. And, as we all VIRGEN MILAGROSA UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION “The Home of God-loving and Globally Competent Individuals” Martin P. Posadas Avenue, San Carlos City, Pangasinan, 2420, Philippine College of Education know, a dirty environment caused by trash pollution can lead to diseases as well as environmental harm, as it is one of the causes of floods. Organizing clean-up drives in the neighborhood is one strategy to solve this issue. Clean-up drives should be held on a regular basis, and individuals should be encouraged to participate. However, barangays rarely organize clean-up drives, and individuals are often unaware of or unsure whether clean-up efforts are being conducted in their region, which is why they are unable to participate. To see a positive change in the environment, we want to promote the importance of clean-up drives and draw the attention of the youth to the importance of implementing them strictly and regularly, as well as encourage constituents to actively participate in such programs and make cleaning their environment a habit without waiting for someone to tell them to. III. Project Rationale Corona virus sickness has claimed a large number of lives, with an estimated 2.4 million deaths worldwide. It is also one of the world's most serious crises in history. This current pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the entire community, particularly on people's health and well-being. This worldwide issue motivates me to act and assist our community in the fight against sickness. In order to complete my project proposal, I designed the "CLEAN UP! RICE UP!"-clean-up drive activity as part of my environmental advocacy campaign. This advocacy could assist me and my community in preserving the quality of our environment by cleaning up our surrounds and also to help the community by giving them 2 kilos of rice after the clean-up drive that’s why I called it “CLEAN UP, RICE UP!” IV. Project Objectives "Clean Up, Rice Up!" is a project that tries to develop environmental awareness in various areas. The following is a list of our program's extra objectives: -To improve the community's capacities through boosting commerce and trade; to attain or practice ethical waste management and recycling practices. VIRGEN MILAGROSA UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION “The Home of God-loving and Globally Competent Individuals” Martin P. Posadas Avenue, San Carlos City, Pangasinan, 2420, Philippine College of Education -Encourage waste reduction, recycling, and reuse, as well as raise public knowledge about waste management and environmental issues. -To increase the community's outdoor recreational activities -To aid in the reduction of greenhouse gases and the fight against climate change, as well as to improve the condition of the natural environment. -To focus one's thoughts on future generations' well-being. This could have a significant impact on the cleanliness of the region surrounding the Barangay, including the streets, passageways, and public areas. The review of the project proposal will be prioritized for approval in the near future. Planning, organizing, and directing a group of Purok authorities and residents to the duties and activities to be completed. The focus will be on mobilizing the group/committees, which will be led by Purok officials, as well as the tasks and activities to be carried out. VIII. Expected Outputs/ Impact of the project Waste management that is done correctly can result in the availability of valuable materials that can be reused. Reduce, reuse, and recycle your garbage is not only good for the environment, but it can also save you money. It reduces the quantity of garbage that needs to be disposed of, saves landfill space, and conserves natural resources. Waste removal that is done correctly helps to enhance air and water quality while also lowering greenhouse gas emissions. It aids in the reduction of resource extraction as well as pollution and energy consumption connected with the production of new materials. The amount of garbage produced is modest, and waste treatment options are environmentally friendly. VIRGEN MILAGROSA UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION “The Home of God-loving and Globally Competent Individuals” Martin P. Posadas Avenue, San Carlos City, Pangasinan, 2420, Philippine College of Education The consumption of material resources, as well as the waste generation that goes along with it, can pollute our air, land, and water. Garbage production is low, and trash treatment alternatives are environmentally acceptable. Pollution of our air, land, and water can result from the consumption of material resources and the waste generated as a result. MR. GLENN EPISCOPE Values Education Instructor
