How to Create a User Account

On a Domain Computer click Start and type mstsc.
A Remote Desktop connection window will appear, type micare-dc1 and press "Enter".
Enter the username and password of your Administrator account - e.g. cthomas.admin
Open the Server Manager by clicking the icon next to the Start button.

5. Click "Tools -> Active Directory Users and Computers.
6. Right click the Organization Unit "User Accounts".
7. Hover the mouse over "New", click "User".
8. Enter the Users "First Name", "Last Name".
9. Enter the "User Logon Name" in the format "First Initial Last Name". e.g. "cthomas"
10. Click "Next".
11. Enter a password for the User, then confirm password. Ensure that "User must change password
at next logon" is checked.
12. Click "Next" and click "Finish".

Click on the Organization Unit "User Accounts".
Locate the User Account you want to add to a group.
Right click the User Account and click "Properties"
The properties for the User will appear, click "Member Of".

Click the "Add" button.
Enter the name of the group you wish to add the account to, e.g. "Public File Share".
Click the "Check Names", then click "Ok".
Click "Ok" on the User Properties page.

Locate the Security Group you wish to add an account to.
Right click the group and click "Properties".
Click the "Members" tab.

Click the "Add" button.
Enter the name of the User Account you wish to add the group, e.g. "cthomas".
Click the "Check Names", then click "Ok".
Click "Ok" on the User Properties page.
