How to Join a Computer to the Domain 1. Logon to the computer with an account that has local computer administrative privileges. 2. Click "Start", right click "Computer" and click "Properties". 3. In the "System" windows that appears click "Advanced System Settings". 4. Click the "Computer Name" tab, then click the "Change" button. 5. Change the name of the computer to the format "micareXX" where "XX" is the next available number in naming each computer within the domain. E.g. if there are 10 computers already joined to the domain the computer should be called micare11. 6. Click "Ok". 7. You will be prompted to reboot the computer, click "Ok". 8. Click "Close", on the "System Properties" screen. 9. Click "Restart Now". 10. Once computer has rebooted logon to the computer with a local account that has administrative privileges. 11. Click "Start", right click "Computer" and click "Properties". 12. In the "System" windows that appears click "Advanced System Settings". 13. Click the "Computer Name" tab, then click the "Change" button. 14. Click the radio button next to "Domain". 15. Enter the domain name "micareplan.fm", then click "Ok". 16. You will be prompted to reboot the computer, click "Ok". 17. Click "Close", on the "System Properties" screen. 18. Click "Restart Now". 19. Once the computer has been rebooted it will now be on the domain. 20. Now the Computer Account needs to be moved to the correct OU in Active Directory. 21. On your computer click the “Start” button. 22. Type mstsc and click the “Remote Desktop Connection” button. 23. 24. 25. 26. Type micare-dc1. Click the “Connect” button. Enter your administrator account username and password and click “Ok”. Open the Server Manager by clicking the icon next to the Start button. Server Manager 27. Click "Tools -> Active Directory Users and Computers. 28. Expand “micareplan.fm” and locate the “Computers” OU. 29. Click and drag the computer from the “Computers” OU to the “Computer Accounts” OU. 30. Click “Yes” on the warning. 31. Log off the Remote Desktop Session.
