Date and Time: November 3, 2021-2:00 Pm
Activity Conducted/Title of Webinar Attended: Arterial Blood Gas
Platform Used: Zoom Meeting
RTOD: __________________________________________
INSIGHTS and LEARNINGS
1. What prior knowledge did you have before the lecture/webinar?
In today’s lecture I had a prior knowledge about the arterial blood gas analysis is a test which
measures the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood. I also know the materials needed in
preparing the abg like syringes, cotton balls, micropore tape, and the heparin and the steps or
procedure on how to perform the arterial blood gas on the patient . And of course the different arterial
puncture site the radial site, brachial, femoral artery, dorsalis artery.
2. What have you learned from the lecture/webinar that you did not know before?
I had learned from the lecture that I did not know before is where the san juan de dios hospital has a
needle recapper tray where it compromises of a tray body a handle and detachable needle cap holder.
The purpose of this recapping needle using both hands increases the risk of sustaining a needle stick
injury. The World health Organization recommends a safe way to recap needles by using the single
handed capping technique or scooping technique. And also i learned the process on performing the
recapper tray and the machine where blood gas analysis done.
3. What are the two most important things you learned from this lecture/webinar? Why do you think so?
The two most important things that I had learned from the topic is on the proper process/procedure on
performing of arterial blood gas and the right site of extraction of blood where it is performed so that
an accurate measurement of oxygen and carbon dioxide levels can be obtained, which then allows the
patients oxygen to be delivered appropriately.

INTERN’S LEARNING EXPERIENCES
4. which topic(s) from the lecture/webinar was the most difficult for you?
In today’s lecture for me, i think that there’s no part on the lecture that is difficult because our
supervisor explained the lecture clearly and very detailed and because this lecture today we had
encounter this when we are in 3rd year college.
4. From what you learned, what do you plan to apply in your practice in the future?
I plan to apply all that I had learned about the arterial blood gas where I can help test the oxygen and
carbon dioxide in my patients blood to see how well their lungs are working. This test may help to
make a diagnosis, indicate the severity of a condition of the patient and help them to assess a
treatment. Of course, accurate results for an ABG depend on the proper manner of collecting,
handling and analyzing the specimen.
