Ancient Indian education By – Anubhav Gusain In ancient India our education system was not only restricted to text book and pages, but was more focused on natural aspects of life rather than technological aspects i.e., our education supported national development without any harm to our environment. As in India, we call geography “भूगोल” to which when we break into two parts we get “भू” + “गोल” i.e., we knew thousands of years ago that earth is round, which Europeans only accepted when they saw the picture of the earth captured by the satellite. also, we call earth “जगत”, the meaning of which comes out to be “non-stationary” i.e., we didn’t only know that the earth is round but also that it is not stationary. The proof of earth being round comes from the monument of lord Vishnu’s “Varaha avatar “. In this statue the earth which was lifted by the varaha avatar is round and this monument was made thousands of years ago. Apart from this , talking about the mechanical knowledge , when Vasco Da Gama sailed to discover India he took the biggest ship of Europe but when he was nearly lost he was helped by a Gujrati named “Kahana” who was a merchant from India and his ship was 10 t0 12 times bigger than the ship of Vasco Da Gama ,and this all is not just a myth but this all is mentioned in the journal of Vasco Da Gama. Talking about the scientific knowledge of Ancient India, at the time when bruisers were colonising other countries using bows and arrows, India HAD THE KNOWLEDGE OF Extracting zinc from its ore which is one of the most complex processes and India kept this knowledge preserved with it for 4000 years. Also, India had access to rustproof material, the proof of which is the pillar Infront of Qutub Minar in Delhi which is still untouched by the pollution of Delhi and is thousands of years old. India also had access to the floating materials of which the rooftop of Ramappa Temple is built and scientists of Europe are still unable to find the reason behind this. All above mentions knowledge is just a small portion of knowledge that India held. This was only possible because all our scientists did Yoga, but we were robbed of this knowledge by britishers and were left with a legacy of being ashamed of our own culture.
