Student loves to talk about his hobbies and activities when he is prompted. However, when the conversation is “boring,” he will provide close-ended statements “yes,” “no,” “I do not know,” and will not follow up with a statement unless he is prompted. He also speeds through his assignments as he “wants to get them over with.” He needs to continue to work on taking his time through assignments while also paying attention in class. 2) Current Annual Goal: a. In one year, the student will be able to identify and discuss the consequences of rushing through school assignments. At the same time, he should also explore coping strategies he might experience when he becomes frustrated or overwhelmed in class. He will utilize learned strategies and coping skills to increase productivity, insight, and achievement in this period. 3) Progress in meeting goals: a. He struggles with pacing himself throughout the examinations, and currently, he is not sure if he does not understand the material or is rushing because of disinterest. This will be demonstrated with weekly self-reports grades by student during counseling sessions and improved exam grades (exam grades will improve by an average of 5% per semester) c. Student will utilize taught coping skills to increase his frustration tolerance in the classroom. This will be demonstrated by student self-reports and classroom teacher observations of zero maladaptive behaviors stemming from frustration (crying, yelling, leaving the classroom, etc.) over three consecutive weeks.
