GROUP CASE STUDY
Requirements:
1. Select a product for starting a manufacturing business. The product should have a high demand
from everywhere in the country and it needs mass production. Simple and standardized
products are acceptable. Creative / craft production based products are not acceptable.
2. List down all operations needed to produce the product and mention the time requirement by
each operation for each unit.
3. Draw a precedence diagram.
4. Develop a layout of facilities [including 100% coverage of the factory]
Every group has been assigned with a product. For that product manufacturing business, you are asked
to develop a “layout of facilities” and draw a “precedence diagram”. This manufacturing business will
be considered for your group project also.
While you develop a layout of facilities, research and identify all facilities that you decide to keep in your
layout. The better you can do it, the better performance you will have.
While you draw precedence diagram, research and explore all tasks (operations) that are required to
produce that product. You also need to learn the sequence of those tasks (operations) and their time
requirement.
For research, you can use your course book, Google, and YouTube. If you want to use any other source
for research, take approval from your course instructor. Remember to save and mention all the sources
of your research.
In all works, your answers must be neat and clean, accurately done, logical, and easy to understand.
