Brave is a browser on which you can earn cryptocurrency. It also emphasizes privacy as one of its big objectives as well as Ad-Blocking. The project will have one project manager with six staff working under him. Our budget is approximately $270,000 - $300,000 and we will have 3 months to complete the project starting from December 1st 2021. Project Charter Project Title: Develop the Brave Privacy Browser Project Start Date: Dec 01, 2021 Project Finish Date: Feb 11, 2022 Project Manager: Alan Mark Budget Information The Project Sponsor has provided $300,000 to carry out the project. Most of the cost is labour costs. An initial estimate provides the total calculated work hours as 3,451.21 hours distributed among 7 members. Project Objectives Develop the Brave Privacy Browser which gives its users enhanced privacy when browsing the internet by blocking the collection of personal data by cookies, ads and other sources. “Revolutionize the way web commerce works, by introducing direct micropayments to take the place of ads” (Muchmore, 2021, para. 14). However, the ads can still be shown if the user wishes to and can be turned off in the settings at any time. Viewing ads lets users earn money in the form of BAT cryptocurrency which is a cryptocurrency used in the browser to make transactions. Users can make payments in the form of direct micropayments using BAT. Main Project Success Criterion All features of the browser are fully operational by the project end date. Approach The approach used will be an iterative approach which means that we will adapt our needs and methodology over the course of the project. · · Analyse current market about browsers to see opportunities and risks. Research about competitor’s browsers for features, customer reviews and complaints to get an overall picture of positives and negatives to include in the project. Brave Browser Development Project --- Page 2 of 10 · · · Analysis of required functions like privacy protection, ad-blocking, micro payments, fingerprinting protection, force HTTPS etc. Analysis of required features like Brave rewards, crypto wallets, integrated search etc. Develop designs for the browser, determine the various platforms/OS to release, programming languages to use, open source codes and extensions to use. Brave Browser safety: Browser focus is given on privacy and ad-blocking. It blocks third-party data storage and IP address collection. It also upgrades every webpage to secure https and http connections with its powerful privacy safety. We need to develop brave browser safety. 2. Cryptocurrency: This browser helps you to earn cryptocurrency while you browse. It helps you to hoard crypto. Therefore, more information on cryptocurrency should be provided to users. 3. Strong Protection against Web Tracking: Many browsers use your cookies for web tracking but brave blocks tracking, and advertising-related-tracking, It supports the privacy community. 4. Advanced Fingerprinting protections: Brave protects you from browser-fingerprintingbased tracking by randomizing your fingerprint, providing strong protection against tracking which is done when you fill up your credentials for one window and it gets saved as a fingerprint. Brave restart browser each time which prevents sites from using fingerprints. 5. Earn cryptocurrency rewards: BAT is short for Basic Attention Token. It is any optional plan as it gives the option to see first-party, privacy-protecting ads while a person browses, if a person is willing to see them, then he can earn Brave Rewards Programs. You can keep BAT like a crypto asset. 6. Kickoff Meetings deliverables: To view the requirements and characteristics of Brave Browser, meetings were conducted, and issues were discussed (if any) with Project Sponsor. 7. Brave Wallet: The Brave Rewards can be collected through Brave Wallet. By this, after viewing any advertisement, you get a fair share of revenue to view and which is stored in Brave Wallet. Brave Browser Development Project --- Page 5 of 10 Acceptance Criteria: Project will be accepted by Project Sponsor: Luke Carter when it will meet all feature requirements mentioned in project criteria. Thus, a project will be considered as a success. Project Deliverables Project Charter Scope Statement WBS Work Schedule created Risk Management Plan Budget created Brave Privacy Browser version created Lesson Learned Report Final project presentation Constraints: o If the developers will take more time to complete the browser updating, there can be a surge in cost estimation. o Undedicated workers can delay the project completion date. o Cheap and weak privacy tools used in developing browsers can make its privacy weaker and its look awful. Assumptions: o Delay in project completion date o Higher cost estimation More tools can be required in correcting the faults in browser Project Success Criteria: Experienced professionals are used in developing the browser, which assure the accuracy and time management in completing the project. Project Manager and Project Sponsor plays the vital role as the milestones are conducted and approved by them. Moreover, the maximum cost is spent on workers which is around $255,00 which will help in making workers motivated to make the project successful. Electricity being used is provided by the building free of charge. This current budget of $271,851.33 meets our constraints as it within the range of $270,000-$300,000. The initiating phase of the project costs $1650. The planning phase of our project costs $8700. The executing phase of our project costs $202,256.83. The monitoring and controlling phase of our project costs $56,294.50. The closing phase of our project costs $2950. The most expensive phase was execution which is expected in a project where the focus is upon building software.
