1. “You ungrateful girl!”, she scolded. “Where would you be if I hadn’t taken you in? This is how
you repay my kindness by fighting with my son!” Turning to the servants she said, “Lock her
up in hr room till she realizes how wicked she has been!”
2. Before he left, he warned them of a disease called rabies which had affected many animals
around the area. “You can see that an animal has it by the way, it’s mouth foams, it’ll go mad
and attack any creature in sight before it dies,” he told them.
3. Excitedly, they took it home. They put it in an earthen jar, covered it with a net. “Look after it
carefully,” said Mr Wilson, “I’m going out to buy some chestnut to feed it.”
4. Hugh said in a quiet voice, “I have not forgotten and I don’t think you can, Jim. How could
you have done that to me. Who was it who taught you how to follow a trail and whose gun
saved you from the Indians. Don’t you know that men must stay together and help one another
