Activity. If you were to ask three (3) questions to the couple who appeared to have a misunderstanding,
what would those be?
1. What seems to be the problem?
2. Did you listen to each other’s side?
3. How did you talk to each other?
Processing of the Activity. Let us find out how powerful your questions are using this self-assessment
checklist.
Is the question:
Yes, because…
on topic? Will it give me
information I need?
open ended? Will it give me
more than a oneword answer
Yes, because I will know the
root of their misunderstanding
Yes, because I asked what’s
their problem and how did they
communicate with each other.
Yes, because besides on what
was the reason of their
misunderstanding I will also find
out if their way of
communication was right or
what was missing.
engaging? Will it give me
interesting information?
No, but here’s how I can make it
better
respectful? Will it be
appropriate to ask the
question?
I think it might be too personal
but here’s how I can make it
better by asking them first for
permission.
After accomplishing the self-assessment checklist, you may want to revise your questions by rewriting
them down here:
1. Are you giving me permission to ask you some questions?
2. Did you listen to each other’s side?
3. How did you talk to each other?
Generalization.
1. Does everybody in your group/class possess the same style of talking? Why do you say so?
-No, we don’t have the same style of talking. Some of my classmates are very shy to reach out
and some are really active on participating to class.
2. What is your preferred conversation style?
- assertive communication style features an open communication link while not being
overbearing. Assertive communicators can express their own needs, desires, ideas and feelings, while also
considering the needs of others.
3. How can you develop such a conversation style?
- Listen actively to others. Listening shows that we are interested in the other person and what
they have to say.
Relate the quotation above with carrying a conversation. What does it imply about taking your turn in
the discussion?
“Make sure you have finished speaking before your audience has finished listening”
For me the statement means that whenever you are speaking you should always make sure that it will
convey it’s true meaning in able for your listener or audience to fully understand. It is also a way to
avoid misunderstanding. You should also build and use a proper way of speaking to your audience,
always practice manners and don’t forget to also listen in their response and reflect on it well.

Activity. Fill-out the table below. In the first column, write what you already know about parliamentary
procedures. Write what you want to know about it in the second column and explain why you want to
know about it in the third. Use the worksheet attached to this packet.
What I know about
parliamentary procedures
The goal of parliamentary
procedure and rules is to ensure
fairness and consistency to all
participating in any meeting.
Creation of an agenda is an
important part of the
parliamentary process.
Any meeting, even a non-profit
board meeting, hospital
committee, or
anesthesia/medical group
meeting will benefit from being
run with adherence to
parliamentary procedure.
What I want to know is…
I want to know this because
Does each person should be
able to express his or her
opinion?
To know if in this procedure
everybody can express their
opinion.
Is the order of business is the
blueprint for the meeting, and
the agenda is the specific items
to be considered?
Should at least one member of
the group have a rudimentary
knowledge of parliamentary
procedure, and a copy of The
Standard Code and the groups
bylaws/policies and procedures
on hand?
The very purpose of blue print.
To know the role of the
member whose assigned in this
task.
Enhancement Activity. Fill out the table below with the required details about parliamentary
procedures.
