Unit 2 Definitions
Science fiction- fiction dealing principally with the impact of
actual or imagined science on society or individuals
Dystopian- of, relating to, or being an imagined world or society
in which people lead dehumanized, fearful lives
Protagonist- the main character in a novel, play, movie, etc
Analogy- a comparison of two things based on their being alike in
some way
Antagonist- one that contends with or opposes another
Anecdote- a short story about an interesting or funny event or
occurrence
Flashback- interruption of chronological sequence (as in a film or
literary work) by interjection of events of earlier occurrence
Controversial- of, relating to, or arousing controversy
Foreshadowing- an indication of what is to come
Research- careful study that is done to find and report new
knowledge about something
