Research Design In this study, we used descriptive-correlational research design because we believed that this research design suits for our study. Correlational research refers to a non-experimental research method which studies the relationship between two variables with the help of statistical analysis. According to Sousa, V. et al.., (2007), descriptive-correlational design describe the variables and the relationships that occur naturally between and among them. The purpose of this design in our study, is to know the preffered learning styles of students in modular learning. It will also help the researchers to know if there is a significant relationship between the student's learning style to their academic performance in modular distance learning. The researchers chose this kind of design in order for them to make and collect data accurately and factual. The descriptive-correlational design is any scientific process that begins with description, based on observation, of an event or events, from which theories may later be developed to explain the observations. Since the researchers of this study are in the same field of specialization (STEM) as the participants, the descriptive technique entails seeing, describing, and documenting characteristics of a situation, and it is better suited to the type of research that the researchers conducted. Because there were no manipulations of the independent variable and no treatment or intervention by the researchers. This design would be very helpful to the researchers to know the preffered learning styles of the Senior High Schools students taking up the strand Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Moreover, with such design contributed to a convenient, friendly and conversational atmosphere during the data gathering process, hence, rich data collection was ensured for the researchers to relate and reflect to.
