CIARE has been bringing Italian-made quality sound to the world for
over sixty-five years.
Founded by forward-thinking Dino Giannini, who named it Costruzioni
Italiane Apparecchiature Radio Elettriche (Italian radio-electrical
appliance manufacturing), over time the company has built up significant
expertise in the design and production of speakers and amplifier
components for the Professional, Home HI-FI and Car Audio sectors.
A wealth of knowledge and experience which has grown and been
consolidated over time to create the “CIARE sound” and make the
company synonymous with reliability, efficiency and effectiveness.
At CIARE, the design and production flexibility of our technical
departments turns customer requirements into products and solutions

This series of symbols summarizes the main speaker construction
characteristics. Their meaning is described in the previous page.

The technical drawings show the speakers from a side view. All
measurements are in millimetres.

GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
Maximum applicable power is indicated; this is music power
before any filter, along with impedance characteristics, nominal
diameter both in millimetres and inches, voice coil diameter and
frequency range. The range of use is defined by measurements on
infinite baffle. For cone speakers the frequency range goes from
-10 dB up to break up; for dome speakers the starting value is
approx. twice Fs.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Here you will find all Thiele & Small parameters, recorded in free air
in small-signal regime and also mechanical and geometrical
parameters. For double coil speakers the electric parameter
recording method is indicated. Recommended use is a general
indication and is referred to non burnt-in speakers. For Bass
Reflex, data refers to a B4 alignment except for CSW subwoofer
series. For sealad boxes, typical alignment used is B2 or one that
has Qts as close as possible to 0,7.

MEASUREMENTS TYPE
The symbol clarifies the type of acoustic loading used during
measurements. For woofers mounted on IEC baffles, the curve has
a dip at approx. 450 Hz and another less evident one at approx.
900 Hz. This phenomenon is caused by the sound waves that
move around the baffle and interfere with the speaker's emissions.
Measurements on the infinite baffle simulate conditions of a
speaker loaded on an infinite volume exposed to a semi-space
(2psr). The resulting curve does not present alterations due to
interference with rear emissions or due to diffractions generated by
the edge. The measurement with woofers mounted in sealed
boxes is similar to real use (but in anechoic chamber) and shows
alterations due to both the dimensions of the front panel and the
diffraction phenom of the corners. Standard boxes have been used
and may not correspond to optimal alignment volumes. Horns only
are measured in free air.

XMAX
CIARE has always declared the value of pick to pick excursion in
linearity conditions (Xmas) as a simple geometrical parameter,
corresponding to half of the difference between the winding height
and the air gap height. For all new models added since 2010·2011
catalogue, the Xmax value has been defined following the same
geometrical relation but increased by 1/4 of the air gap height. This
in order to be closer to the real "linear" working conditions in
dynamic regime. lt is a prudential value because the maximum
mechanical pick to pick excursion is in any case higher than
declared.

DIAGRAM
The graph shows both impedance (blue) and SPL value in ralation
to frequency (red). The impedance curve is measured with speaker
in free air, in small-Signal regime, the result is indicated to the right
of the graph. The frequency response curve is measured in
anechoic chamber with microphone positioned at 1 meter from
speaker, driven by tension equivalent to 1 W calculaled on nominal
speaker impedance. Polar patterns and directivity maps are
indicated on certain specific speakers.
