Resume of Person Interviewed
Basty Alcances is a child star before he started his business, he was part of ABS-CBN’s comedy
show called Goin Bulilit. He started his business with his brother, Sean Alcances, in the year
2018. He is the owner of his business, he as a leader tends to do Servant Leadership, servant
leaders like Basty Alcances go above and beyond to meet their team's goals. They have a
reputation for being personable and generous. Because team members feel heard and cared for at
work, this frequently leads to high levels of employee satisfaction. It can also be useful in the
workplace, where you want everybody to consider themselves as equals, engaging together or
collaborating on an equal footing rather than focusing on who is in control of whom. With his
skills and way of treating his employees is the reason why his business is growing and
succeeding.

Luisa: “And we are from Far Eastern University, 1st year students of BSBA in Entrepreneurship.
We will be asking questions about your successful business that may inspire us, may give us
knowledge, learn different skills and techniques from you and this interview will help us to finish
our business analysis paper for the subject Leadership and Decision Making, handled by Dr.
Leonardo F. Cada, JR.”
Luisa: “First Question:
Why did you decide to become a business owner?”
Basty: “I became a business owner to set myself free, to create my own schedule so that I could
be the one to manage it since, in my opinion, when you work hard, your business will expand and

your profit will be large. When you own a business, your profit margin is higher than when you
work for someone else.”
Luisa: “What are the common challenges that you encounter on a daily basis?”
Basty: “On a daily basis, perhaps we are lazy because we all sense laziness. Perhaps it is my
only tough problem.”
Luisa: “What are your typical responsibilities as the business owner?”
Basty: “There are several. I'm in charge of a number of things in the business, including
customer service, quality, and everything else. All of that, but I'm sure I can handle it.”
Luisa: “In what aspect do you think your company will survive against the competition in the
field of business?”
Basty: “Being unique. There are many businesses that are comparable to mine, yet something
about my business is being solved. It sticks out since it solves a problem, and that is exactly what
it is.”
Luisa: “What can you promise the people about your company being the most trusted or your
company being the best?”
Basty: “I promise that they will get more than what they paid for, I promise that it will surpass
the expectation and they will get the best.”
Luisa: “What are your plans for your company to be able to survive in this pandemic?”

Basty: “Get to the flow of the pandemic's difficulties, create an upgrade, and innovate so that
you are not behind. For example, even if there is a pandemic, make all necessary adjustments
and improvements to continue and manage the business.”
Arcus: “What advice would you give to an aspiring entrepreneur who is afraid to proceed
because they are afraid it will fail?”
Basty: “My advice is to not be frightened to fail since many others are failing. Some of them are
performing well while they are fresh to their business. Some of them are not succeeding. Some
people start their own businesses when they are 50 years old. Many people fail when they first
start their own business. There is someone who is capable of handling the business. Maybe
failing is acceptable because you will learn from it. It teaches you something.”
Arcus: “How do you motivate your employees?”
Basty: “I'm not sure how to express it, but I consider them to be my friends. A common
motivation for a friend. That's exactly what it is.”
Arcus: “How did you overcome the difficulties you encountered on your path to becoming a
successful entrepreneur?”
Basty: “Since I am passionate about my business, I am able to overcome the problems by
enjoying the flow. I make mistakes, but I see it as a learning experience, and I'm just enjoying it.
I'm not afraid to fail. It's okay for me to fail; I'll find solutions, and I feel that everything here in
business is something I can solve and turn into a success.”

Basty: “As previously said, I am passionate about my business, as opposed to those that conduct
business but don't enjoy it or are only in it for the money. Yes, we conduct business for profit, but
I enjoy what I'm doing with my business, which is why I'm not exhausted. It's okay with me, and I
loved it.”

Ruben: The leader had an important role, especially in relation to us, the interviewees. I
witnessed he always pushes his workers to do their part and reminds them of their goals. Instruct
them on what they need to know in order to do the task at hand. I enjoy communicating with our
leader since I learned a lot and can use them in the future as I build my own business. Since we
all know that the pandemic shapes and tests our capacities. In terms of the interview, our leader
handled all of the questions we have given to him calmly. These activities have taught me that
being a leader is challenging since it is difficult to connect with everyone, as we all know how
difficult it is to communicate on cell phones and how frequently we have internet problems.
Specifically, what I witnessed throughout the interview. My desktop camera isn't working
correctly. That's why I transferred it to my phone. However, there is a problem with my audio. I
can't hear everyone due to technological problems but there's our leader, understands my

situation. I admired his enthusiasm and ability to keep us captivated in some way while
encouraging us to try our best in order to get a good result in the future.
Catherine: Our leader continuously reminds us of our goal and keeps us up to date on our current
responsibilities. It is challenging for us to conduct interviews during a pandemic, but our leader
was simple to work with and agreed to be interviewed. Sir Basty Alcances was approachable and
he handled the challenging questions that arose throughout the interview. I was impressed by
him. His passion and ability to keep us entertained enthralled in some manner while motivating
us to give it our all in order to get an excellent result.
Adrian: The leader amazed us because first, we sensed his responsibility on his duties and his
punctuality to be able to finish their tasks on time. Looking for a hard working leader is
challenging, despite having a hard time finding an interviewee because of the pandemic
happening right now. Sir Basty Alcances, our leader, was impressive because of his kindness and
determination which helped him to become a successful entrepreneur.
Luisa: The leader, Basty Alcances, started his business during his SHS days. He motivates me to
do business at a young age. He treats his employees like his friends, he motivates them as well,
he focuses more on how to improve and upgrade his products, with the help of the consumers of
his products. The leader always checks the quality of his products and if he satisfies his
customers, with that he makes a lot of loyal customers. When their product is good, even if the
price is kinda pricey, customers always come back. because their high-quality product inspires
unwavering consumer loyalty, which leads them to more leads. His customers who find a product
or service they like return, make repeat purchases, and suggest it to others. and during the
interview he shows how he really loves doing his business but not just because he earns money
but because he is enjoying it.
Monica: I love the way he analyzes things about his business. I admire the amount of courage he
has when he takes the risk of starting his own business. It was not easy, but he was able to pull
through. He’s flexible enough to adjust to the market trends and doesn’t stick to one particular

strategy. I am also amazed with how down-to-earth he can be, he treats his employees as his
equal and not like servants. He makes sure that invest in his people which is very important.
Arcus: For me the way he answers the questions is good. He knows how to work things out when
they have conflicts in his business. He uses some mistakes as his motivation to improve and
whatever challenges may come, he always works things out. He always motivates her employees
by treating them as a friend. For me I see he is willing to take his business for the long run and
use that also as his self improvement all throughout and keep his business in good shape.
Hisham: The way he analyzes and deals with his challenges in his business is truly inspiring. He
started his business in the SHS days and that really inspired me to make one as soon as possible
because even through all the problems he dealt with he always has an answer for it. And he really
treats all his employees like family, he trusts them with the business. The leader is always aware
of all his products and keeping everything on check making all his products perfect for his
customers and that’s how he gains loyal ones till now. And from the way he explained it his
business is doing just great. His loyal customers keep coming even though the product is
expensive they still buy it because his products are amazing. And last of all , the most important
trait in my opinion is that he is having fun in his job and he is getting great money in the end.

As per Susan Ward (2020), effective leadership is based on ideas that are effectively
communicated to others in a way that engages them enough to act in the way that the leader
desires. This means that whatever result the leader wants, he/she will have a strong connection
with the team members, and the members must follow in order to commit to our goals in the
group. The one that we want to achieve.
Online Business
In the Philippines, e-commerce is mostly being implemented by major retailers and multinational
corporations for bank-to-bank exchange. A number of business-to-consumer transactions have
emerged through the years such as auctions, online shopping, and online banking (Lacson,
Pasadilla, 2006).
