Squirrels use leaves to nest
high in trees: some animals live
inside the trees.
Many animals use plants has a source of
food. Plants begin the food chain cycle.
Plants Prevent Erosion
Erosion is when the soil is washed away by wind or rain. Erosion can be
slowed or even prevented by plants. The plant roots hold the soil in place,
so that it is not easily washed away.

Some plants love cold weather and others do not. Because the weather is
different all around the world, plants grow in different geographic regions.
Plants grow where they can meet their needs of sun, temperature and
water.
Below are some of the edible plants that grow in Virginia.
