Symptom
• How to find you where a document is physically stored when using Business Communication Services
(BCS).
• You want to know how to adjust the configuration so that documents are stored to an external content
server.
• Storage with BCS consists of SAPoffice, SAPconnect, GOS.
Environment
• SAP NetWeaver
• Release Independent
Resolution
1. In transaction OACT (Maintain Categories) the Storage category SOFFDB is for DB storage for BCS,
which is assigned to the Content Repository SOFFDB in OAC0. The below screenshot shows the
default configuration in the SAP system before any configuration is changed, with this configuration
storage would take place to Content Repository SOFFDB. You can check where Content Repository
SOFFDB stores data to in transaction OAC0.

2. Here is a screenshot of content repository SOFFDB in OAC0, you can see that storage is taking place
to DB table SOFFCONT1. SOFFCONT1 is the default DB table used by BCS and KPRO to store
content related to storage category SOFFDB when no configuration has been maintained in relation to
a content server.

3. You can change the location where BCS data will be stored by changing the configuration in
transaction SKPR08. This can be done by entering a Storage Category in the "New cat." field for the
Document Class SOFFPHIO. The new Storage Category entered in SKPR08 should be created in
OACT and point to the content repository which resides on the external content server where you want
the documents to be stored.
4. If the Document Class SOFFPHIO is not visible in SKPR08 then please review the steps in note
668271 - The entry SOFFPHIO is not displayed in TR SKPR08
