Basic Exposure correction
Open your image and go to levels.
Here we are going to set the numbers for the black
point.
Double clicking on the black eyedropper will open up
this window.
Enter in the numbers 10-10-10.
and click ok
Now set the grey point values.
Repeating the same process as before we now enter
new numbers into the RGB pallet.
Those numbers are 117-117-117.
These are photographic grey card values.
Again click ok.
Now we set the white point values.
Again enter in new numbers into the RGB values.
Those numbers are 245-245-245.
Now close the levels dialogue box
By clicking yes, you now permanently enter those
numbers into the program.
Now we go to threshold to find our white and black
points.
Threshold converts the image to pure black and white
and is on a sliding scale.
Sliding the curser to the left indicates the darkest point.
Open up the colour sampler tool
Using the colour sampler tool leave a marker behind.
Go back to threshold (double click).
.
This reopens the threshold dialogue box
Now take it to the right to determine the darkest part of
the image.
Take the threshold marker as far to the right as possible
to determine the lightest part of the image.
Using the colour smaller tool click and leave a marker
on the the lightest part of the image.
Discard the threshold layer and re-open or open the
levels dialogue box
Select the black eye dropper
Using the black eyedropper click onto the black marker
that you left behind.
Now choosing the white marker click onto the white
marker that you left behind.
Notice how the image changes as the markers re-map
the colours.
If there is an obvious grey then using the grey marker
click onto it. If not don’t.
Clicking onto the eye of the layer turns it off so that you
can judge the changes that you have made.
Now you have colour corrected your image.
Skin tone is a bit different and should be for a more
natural look 7%-10% more yellow than magenta.
Using the colour balance tool in layers pallet make basic
changes to your skin tone.
