Question
In what kind of societies
would a direct democracy
and a representative
democracy work best?
Answer
ANSWER: Direct democracies work best with a small
group of people. Representative democracies work
best with a large group of people because it would be
very difficult to get everyone in the US to debate and
vote on every bill becoming a law. Representative
democracies also work well in societies where people
cannot leave their job frequently to participate in the
government.

Parthenon after the Persian Wars. If
you had lived in ancient Greece would
you have supported the decision to
rebuild the Parthenon? WHY or WHY
Not?
ANSWER: Answers will vary.
Reasons to rebuild Athens:
1. It showed that the Athenians had money and
strength enough to rebuild.
2. The Parthenon was a temple built to honor Athena.
The people would want Athena to continue to bless
their city.
Reasons to NOT rebuild Athens:
It would cost a huge amount of money to rebuild.
That money would be better spent defending the
Athenians from their enemies.
The ruins are a memorial to those who died in the
war.
