A room to study

Where do you prefer to study (for example, at home, in the library, etc.)? Do you like to study alone
or with a friend? Why?
I prefer to study somewhere other than at home. When I was a student, I usually studied
in the dokseosil(독서실). Dokseosil is partitioned to provide an independent space. For
these reasons, it was good to concentrate on studying. However, all three sides of the
desks in here are blocked and it gives the feeling of being locked up. So I changed my
studying place to study cafes these days. The number of study cafes has increased since
last year and now it is a popular place in Korea. This place offers a desk that is open like
a cafe. In addition, coffee vending machines exist so you can drink coffee inside. However,
there is a difference here from cafes. We shouldn't make noise at the study cafe in contrast
of typical cafes. It should be kept quiet because people with study purposes visit here.
While studying here, I can feel the open space advantages of the cafe and the quietness
of the reading room all at once.
I usually tend to improve my efficiency when I study alone. As you saw above, I prefer to
study in a quiet and calm atmosphere. When I study with my friend, I talk to my friend
and it disturbs with my study. Unintentionally, I get to talk to them and have less time to
focus quietly. That's why studying alone prevents me from losing my concentration to
something else. Perhaps studying with friends can encourage each other and improve
each other. It can instill confidence in each other and have a positive influence on each
other. But this can cause another problem. Talking about each other's mistakes and
shortcomings can increase focus on something other than studying. Therefore, if you have
a target amount of study you want to achieve, it is right to study alone. In fact, in my case,
I am continuing to study alone in a quiet place.
