September 11th Interview Assignment
Directions: Although you are too young to remember what happened on September 11th 2001, the events of that day will
never be forgotten by most Americans. Conduct an interview with someone who has a recollection of September 11,
2001. This person could be a parent, grandparent, teacher, etc. Use these guiding questions or include your own:
1. How old were you on September 11, 2001?
2. Where were you that morning?
3. How did you first hear about what happened (or was happening) that day?
4. Tell me what you experienced.
5. What was your initial reaction?
6. Was there anyone you phoned or contacted? Why did you choose that person?.
7. Did you have any immediate concerns about your own safety?
8. What feelings or emotions do you remember experiencing on that day or subsequent days?
9. Did you notice any differences in the way strangers treated one another
10. Did this tragedy change you in any way? Why or why not?
