Three models make up the 400 Series line.
These state-of-the-art heavy-duty lawn and
garden tractors are designed and built to meet
the needs of both homeowners and commercial
users.
The 425 is powered by a 20-hp engine; the
445 and the 455 Diesel feature 22-hp engines.
All are liquid-cooled for long life and quiet
operation.
Standard hydrostatic power steering provides
effortless automotive-like control for reduced
operator fatigue, increased maneuverability,
and better productivity.
Optional all-wheel steering (AWS) is available
on all models. It significantly enhances
maneuverability compared to two-wheel-steer
tractors, and reduces uncut circle radius to
10.5-inches with a 48-inch mower, or 6.5inches with a 60-inch mower.
Two-pedal hydrostatic transmission allows
easy operation and better control of tractor
speed and direction, increasing productivity.
Hydrostatic transmission offers no-clutch
shifting with infinite ground speeds, increasing
productivity and convenience.
Commercial-quality integrated transmission
features internal wet-disk brakes, differential
lock, and hydraulic PTO clutch (optional
540-rpm rear PTO and 2,000-rpm front PTO
attachments).
Foot-operated differential lock provides power
to both drive wheels for increased traction.
The 445 is the only tractor on the market
equipped with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI)
for immediate starting and better reliability.
Plus you get more torque responsiveness.
All models have the exclusive in-tank
transmission oil cooler for constant temperature
control during high-draft loading, and for faster
transmission warm-up in cold weather.
All models are equipped with a standard twofunction hydraulic SCV control system. Levers
are positioned on steering pedestal for quick,
easy, and precise control of implements.
Lower lever has a “float” position to allow
front-mounted equipment to follow ground
contours.
Frame is robotically MlG-welded with a
C-channel design for strength. Allows operating
with large implements. Front bumper doubles
as a weight bracket.

Full instrumentation is standard equipment for
operating confidence. Automotive-type
controls are conveniently located for easy
access, and color-coded for quick identification.
From-the-seat deck-height control with indicator
gauge provides 32 mower-height positions
from 1 to 4 inches and returns to same preset

Automotive-type headlights (halogen, available),
tail lights, and dash with backlighting increase
illumination for additional safety during
nighttime operation.
Standard tilt steering — with the push of a
button, one of four positions can be selected
for most comfortable setting.
Large, powerful front, mid, and rear implements
are available as options. Category “O” 3-point
hitch is available for rear-mounted implements.
Nodular cast-iron axle with one-inch steering
