parts of Southern Africa.
• Nama: A member of one of the Khooikhoi
peoples of South Africa and southwestern
Namibia. The Namas are conventionally
nomadic herders and hunter gatherers,
they were displaced from the region near
the Cape by Dutch Settlers.
KEY TERMS ABOUT THE
GERMAN IMPERIALISM.
• Genocide: The deliberated killing of a
large number of people from a particular
nations or ethnic group with the aim of
destroying that nation or group.
THE INITIATION OF
THE NIGHTMARE…
Follow by the European maniac of “scramble for
Africa”(pressure exerted by indigenous commercials) ,
Germany seize the opportunity to capture colonies on
the African continent, despite the fact that initially they
didn’t have this intention since they considered the risk
of get involved in the territorial and diplomatic disputes
between other European countries such as Britain.
Nevertheless, since European dominant superpowers
like France and Britain, had managed to occupied a
majority of the African land, particularly the north and
west Africa. Due to this, Germany had a little share but
chose countries like Namibia.
VANQUISH AND REBELL
African resistance to European rule sometimes led to harsh
retribution. Between 1904 and 1907, for example, the Herero and
Nama peoples rebelled against German colonial rule in German
South-west Affrica. The German driven them out of the Kalahari
desert, where most of them died due to the bad sanitation level,
exposure, starvation and thirst. The allegation that German soildiers
poisoned desert wells has led to charges of genocide.
