Department of Tourism responsible for the regulation of the Philippine tourism industry and the promotion of the Philippines as a tourist destination. Functions: • To develop and promote the Philippine tourism industry, both domestically and internationally. • Mandated to encourage, promote, and develop tourism as a major socioeconomic activity to generate foreign currency and local employment and to spread the benefits of tourism to a wider segment of the population with the support, assistance, and cooperation of both the private and public sectors. 9. Department of Trade and Industry it is a prime mover of consumer welfare. Tasked as the main economic catalyst that enables innovative, competitive, job generating, inclusive business, and empowers consumers. Functions: • Act as a catalyst for intensified private sector activity in order to accelerate and sustain economic growth through comprehensive industrial growth strategy. • Progressive and socially responsible trade liberalization and deregulation programs and policymaking designed for the expansion and diversification of Philippine trade – both domestic and foreign. • Protecting the rights and interests of the consumers and fostering a competitive and innovative industry. 10. Department of Transportation and Communications oversees the maintenance and expansion of viable, efficient, and dependable transportation systems as effective instruments for national recovery and economic progress. It is responsible for the country's land, air, and sea communications infrastructure. It’s main purpose is to responsible for the development and regulation of transportation and communications systems. Functions: • For the development and regulation of transportation and communications system. • Develops, promotes, implements, and maintains integrated and strategic transportation and communications systems that will ensure safe, reliable, responsive, and viable services to accelerate economic development and to better serve the transport.
