GROUP 1
1. Department of Interior and Local Government
is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for
promoting peace and order and ensuring policy safety.
Functions:
•
Assist the President in the exercise of general supervision over local
governments.
•
Advise the President in the promulgation of policies, rules, regulations and other
issuances on the general supervision over local governments and on public order
and safety.
2. Department of Justice
is the central authority of the Republic of the Philippines relative to extradition
and mutual legal assistance treaties (MLAT) on criminal matters and is involved in
several aspects of international cooperation such as the drafting and implementation
of legislation and agreements. It is the government's principal law agency, serving as
its legal counsel and prosecution arm.
Functions:
•
Upholding the rule of law in the Philippines.
•
They ensure public safety against threats foreign and domestic.
•
Also seek just punishment for those who commit crimes.
•
Lastly, to provide fair and impartial justice.
3. Department of Labor and Employment
is one of the executive departments of the Philippine government
mandated to formulate policies, implement programs and services, and serve as
the policy-coordinating arm of the Executive Branch in the field of labor and
employment. It is tasked with the enforcement of the provisions of the Labor
Code.
Functions:
•
Enforce social and labor legislation to protect the working class and regulate the
relations between the worker and his employees.
•
Recommend necessary adjustments in wage structures with the view to
developing wage system that is consistent with national economic and social
development plans.
•
Uphold the right of workers and employers to organize and promote free
collaborative bargaining as the foundations of the labor relations system.
4. Department of National Defense
is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for
guarding against external and internal threats to peace and security in the
country.
Functions:
•
Safeguard the country against external and internal threads to national peace
and security.
•
Is tasked to guard the country against external and internal threats to national
peace and security, and to provide support for social and economic development.
5. Department of Public Works and Highways
implements the policy of the State to continuously develop technology for
ensuring the safety of all infrastructure facilities and securing for all public works
and highways the highest efficiency and the most appropriate quality of
construction.
Functions:
•
Is responsible for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of
infrastructure, especially the national highways, flood control and water
resources development system, and other public works in accordance with
national development objectives.
•
Ensures the safety of all infrastructure facilities and securing for all public works
and highways.
6. Department of Science and Technology
responsible for the coordination of science and technology-related projects
in the Philippines and to formulate policies and projects in the fields of science
and technology in support of national development.
Functions:
•
Pursue the declared state policy of supporting local scientific and technological
effort.
•
Develop local capability to achieve technological self-reliance.
•
Encourage greater private sector participation in research and development.
•
Providing central direction, leadership and coordination of all scientific and
technological activities, and of formulating policies, programs and projects to
support national.
7. Department of Social Welfare and Development
responsible for the protection of the social welfare of rights of Filipinos and
to promote social development.
Functions:
•
To develop, administer, and implement comprehensive social welfare programs.
•
To uplift the living conditions and empower the disadvantaged children, youth,
women, older persons, person with disabilities, families in crisis or at-risk.
8. Department of Tourism
responsible for the regulation of the Philippine tourism industry and the
promotion of the Philippines as a tourist destination.
Functions:
•
To develop and promote the Philippine tourism industry, both domestically and
internationally.
•
Mandated to encourage, promote, and develop tourism as a major socioeconomic activity to generate foreign currency and local employment and to
spread the benefits of tourism to a wider segment of the population with the
support, assistance, and cooperation of both the private and public sectors.
9. Department of Trade and Industry
it is a prime mover of consumer welfare. Tasked as the main economic
catalyst that enables innovative, competitive, job generating, inclusive business,
and empowers consumers.
Functions:
•
Act as a catalyst for intensified private sector activity in order to accelerate and
sustain economic growth through comprehensive industrial growth strategy.
•
Progressive and socially responsible trade liberalization and deregulation
programs and policymaking designed for the expansion and diversification of
Philippine trade – both domestic and foreign.
•
Protecting the rights and interests of the consumers and fostering a competitive
and innovative industry.
10. Department of Transportation and Communications
oversees the maintenance and expansion of viable, efficient, and
dependable transportation systems as effective instruments for national
recovery and economic progress. It is responsible for the country's land,
air, and sea communications infrastructure. It’s main purpose is to
responsible for the development and regulation of transportation and
communications systems.
Functions:
•
For the development and regulation of transportation and communications
system.
•
Develops, promotes, implements, and maintains integrated and strategic
transportation and communications systems that will ensure safe, reliable,
responsive, and viable services to accelerate economic development and to
better serve the transport.
