Introduction
“One of the most important things we adults can do for young children is to MODEL the kind
of person we would like them to be” – Carol Hillman
According to American World Adoption, there are nearly 80,000 orphans in
Kazakhstan, many of those are true orphans or have parents that were not able to take care of
them. The Kazakh orphanages generally house anywhere from 30–70 children with
approximately 5–8 children per caregiver. Approximately, 8 billion tenge ($53 million) were
allocated for maintenance of orphanages in 2012. And yet the orphanages are ineffective. The
children that are raised in orphanages are not ready for adult and independent life when they
grow up and must leave. The orphanages cripple their souls and make them even unhappier.
“70 percent of the boys raised in this system end up in jail and 60 percent of girls turn into
prostitutes”- Dariga Nazarbayeva. This leads to the point that the system which is
implemented in the orphanages of Kazakhstan is not working regarding the fact that billions of
tenge is invested to make condition for the children better.
The “Bringing Smiles” as non-profit organization is oriented on the implementation
of modern methods of nurture system, dealing with such national issue, including the entire
society, particularly the youth. We would be targeting the orphanages in the Almaty region and
present the new system, which will consider the time horizon of the very early age to the
adulthood of the children. We would be devoting to improvement of conditions in the
orphanages and make those conditions same as every child in a traditional family has. Our
goal and mission is to provide orphans every possible opportunity to reach and realize their
dreams and become important and unique part of our society. Our new approach and system
which we would like to implement would consist of:
 The special training programs for the coaches and mentors of the orphanages
 The tutoring programs on different fields (class related, foreign languages, technology
knowledge) on volunteering basis from students organizations and fully support their
knowledge demand.
 Sport activities and organizations within the orphanages
 Financial support to realize the ideas
 Provide scholarships to study in the best educational centers (schools, colleges,
universities) within the country and in international level
 Assist adults after completion of their degrees in finding a good job position

Project team
Our team members with various educational backgrounds can work as employees of
this organization in different specialization. We are five students with different majors closely
collaborating with each other in order to implement current project in Almaty city. We have
decided to share out the leading tasks of the management between our group members, except
the other responsibilities that will be performed by the additional staff. Zhuldyz has bachelor
degree in Public Administration that indicates having good skills in leadership and executing.
Basically, the project manager is responsible for assigning tasks to project team members and
monitoring the progress at the each step. Saltanat is good in financial management to assess
the budget and evaluate possible financial planning. Aida will be the head of marketing
department and will be responsible for advertising and public promotion. Thus, she can
cooperate with a range of stakeholders (investors, charity organizations, public relations,
students’ associations/organizations) and do advertising. The manager of the event making
will be held by Asylzada. Furthermore, Azamat will be responsible for jurisdiction (legalizing
organization and documentation) and recruiting volunteers or employees for the projects which
will be organized.
Here is the detailed division of tasks:

12000$
According to our projections at the very beginning of the project $12 000 will be needed.
Technological Facilities: Nowadays technology is an important aspect in gaining education.
Through technology students can get high quality and well known education. Therefore, we are
going to buy 15 computers, projectors, printer, scanner and we will provide internet connection,
for the orphan school, which will cost us $5000. Further proceeding, we will conduct
programming classes in order to make children to become familiar with computer programs
those are highly in demand nowadays such as: Microsoft Office, CorelDraw, Dream Waver and
others according to their preferences.
Sample of books: We are also going to provide the children with different books such as
encyclopedias, course books, novels and materials for learning new languages. Accordingly, we
will conduct tutoring programs for the orphans and help them to deal with any difficulties during
their education in schools and mentor them to build their knowledge for the further education in
colleges and universities by preparing them for passing language, math and other field exams.
Training programs: Our team would spend $1000 on training for the tutors and mentors of the
children to make them prepare to work in that orphanage. It would be fundamental to improve
their qualifications because they are the parent model and also the teachers for the children.
Extracurricular activities: In addition, we want the students to not focus just on studying, but
also develop their leadership skills, their creativity and discover their talents through
educational, sport, art and music contests. It would be them to meet new people to become more
sociable.
5
Clothes: An important need of human beings are clothes. We would like to provide the orphan
students with basic needs to feel comfortable in a society and not feel any difference from other
children.
Work scope
 Fundraising
After one month period of fundraising process we will be able to collect $18 700, from which
$2500 will be spend as the cost of fundraising. The first stage of our operations is to organize
events which are aimed for collection of money for further covering of overall cost. We are
planning to make events during 10th of December, 2015-10th of January, 2016:
 Charity concert in the Great Hall of KIMEP University (December 15, 2015), KBTU
(December 25, 2015) and MAB (January 5, 2016) by inviting special guest Son Pascal.
We are going to sell tickets at 10$ and estimated number of visitors is 1000.
 Collaborating with students associations and Universities departments in order to put
“Make a dream come true” boxes. We are planning to put 3 boxes in each university
and collect 2700$ within a month.
 Charity Ball Masquerade in Great Hall of KBTU and the projected price per ticket is
25$ and we are planning to invite 50 couples. This event will be held on December 20,
2015.
 Cooperating with Trading Centers (ex: Mega, Dostyk Plaza). Within a limited period
of time (December 23- 30, 2015) before the New Year, 0.1% of everyday sales goes to
orphanage school. Positive impact on the social responsibility of the trading centers.
Approximately 3500$ in a week. The following illustration shows the sources of
money in details:

Through our project we are going to cooperate with universities like KIMEP, KBTU and
MAB, trading centers such as Mega Almaty and Dostyk Plaza, student organizations such as
Open Hearts and Art Revolution in helping us to organize the fundraising and make the
implementation of the improvement the quality of knowledge and life in orphanages and after
terminating them.
Output:
According to UNESCO about 98% of orphan students are illiterate, so this project is
going to be successful and effective in Almaty. We are ready to bring smiles to two hundred
children in *Regional orphanage #1* which is located in Almaty city. We have chosen a way
to bring smiles by providing education. Since, a person who is educated, has a guaranteed life
with a smile on face.
