“Sa akala mong tama, Ano ang mali? Educate yourself on Covid 19 Webinar”
Covid 19 is an unfortunate event that anyone didn’t see coming and caught us unprepared. Covid
19 changed almost everyone’s life. It changed how we go to school, our lifestyle and even the social
status we have. In this webinar, Ms. Yllah Labayen shared her and her family’s experience of Covid 19.
At first, like many of us, they neglected and ignored Covid 19. Until it came to them. They felt devastated
since her sister was already doing dialysis. It is very sad that her father was already giving up for her
daughter, since her daughter was already suffered enough. But her daughter was still fighting. That
scenario hit me. I realized that Covid does not only target the person who caught it but also the ones who
are dear to the Covid bearer. Covid gives physical, emotional and psychological damage not only to the
bearer but also to the family of the patient. Covid patients undergoes treatment and the price is so high.
Just imagine those people who are not able to afford hospitalization, buy medicine and even food to eat.
They are going to endure and suffer the pain that Covid brought to them. To those breadwinners that got
Covid who are the only ones that their family was rooting for their expenses. To everyone who got lost a
loved one and in grief. Everyone has a sad story about the pandemic and it is heartbreaking to hear their
situation.
My father was a Covid 19 survivor. We are lucky that he only had mild symptoms. We are all
shocked especially my father because my father was the most careful and cautious in our house. He
caught the virus in his job because most of his co-worker do not take safety precautions and were
carefree. We are very lucky that their company immediately tested them and my father caught the virus
after being with us since he only comes home every weekend. He pushed that he will continue his work
and will not go home in order for us to not go near him. But the company told him to go home and take a
rest. When he got home, he was quarantined inside my room. Me, my mom and my sister temporarily
stay with my aunt. But my mom will still cook for him and prepare what my father needs. I was in
surprised what my mom told me, she told me that my father was anxious and depressed when he got the
virus. He questioned himself that how and why he got the virus. I never thought that my father feels that
way. And I am happy that we are near him in those times.
The webinar also tackled about the mental well-being in this pandemic. Just like what I said,
Covid 19 also affects the individuals emotional at mental health. Even if you are Covid positive or not. I
can testify this since my father experienced this. I thought my father was really that mentally strong and I
was really surprised to know that he felt depressed and anxious. And I am happy to be one of the people
who gave him strength to fight. For my own experience, this time really gives everyone anxiety. Why?
Because most of us were isolated and far from our friends in which our mind thinks endless possibilities
of what if’s that made us restless. This webinar helped me realized the importance of my mental health as
a well-being. Since Covid is not our only enemy but also the negative things in our mind. As a student
and the first child of the family, I can feel the pressure that someday I will be the one responsible for my
family. It is hard to not think about negative things. I feel like sometimes I am incompetent and afraid to
face failure. This time was really hard for every one of us it makes us doubt ourselves and fear for what
future will come. With this webinar, it taught me some things that I can do to be mentally healthy for the
times like this.
The webinar also gives advice and knowledge on how to be lessen the risk of getting the virus. It
gives simple yet important tips that everyone should know. Overall, the things that I realized with the
things that the sharers gave is that we always need to be vigilant and careful. Let’s not be complacent and
do not ignore the virus because it is true. Also, it does not only affect our physiological health but also
emotional and mental therefore we need to also take care our mind as a healthy well-being.
