Carl Van Wijk, born in New Zealand, is an inspiring Creative Director based in Tokyo, Japan. I have been working in the advertising
industry since 1983, I have an impressive portfolio of award-winning work across mixed mediums including videos, digital
campaigns, posters, short films, and photography. My work covers a variety of categories in advertising including automotive,
luxury goods, cosmetics, tech, and a vast portfolio on tourism projects.
Today, I mainly focus on global communications for Japanese brands. As an independent creative director, he is based in Tokyo
but I travel all over the world on collaborative projects. My talent and impeccable eye have won me international recognition at
award shows in the U.S., UK, France, and other countries. I have worked for numerous ad agencies in New Zealand, Australia, and
Japan before starting my own venture.
As an English-speaking foreign creative director living in Japan, I am often handpicked as the lead by local agencies to direct and
manage campaigns. I am also an accomplished artist with a passion for creating original artwork and design projects including
Tokyo Trash, Plastic Neon, A dog’s life, and Shit Happens.
