REACTION PAPER “The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.” — Masanobu Fukuoka, 'The One-Straw Revolution', 1975. This is my reaction to lesson 1. Get my attention in the first paragraph the statement is “Since people are living individuals, staple food production is very necessary”. For me, It is true people living individuals. So, it means we need to have a stable food production. Our country or the Philippines is considered as an agricultural country it does mean, we have enough food supply but why many people are living their stomach are empty?, why many farmers are living in the poverty status?, if they are farmers? Why many people are starving for the food if they are living in the Philippines?. Many question in our mind are confuse or don’t know what is the answer. Our Agricultural Production it is not enough to provide to 109, 868, 839 living in the Philippines based on Population Statistics in the World. The ranked of the Philippines is 64th on the land mass or land area 0.2 % in the World. And its so far to the reality, that’s why we are having a poverty status. And I can relate that many families sacrificing by doing wrong or sin to provide their daily needs. And the Philippines many issues in drug, killing, thief etc. But I didn’t say I don’t living in the Philippines. Because Philippines is my home and I want to help Filipino’s are their situation of poverty. Agricultural Production that we need to monitor by searching or scrolling because we can have a update or information that we can use for helping by do and do not. And also what can be solution if something wrong. And also gives awareness to political industry and for our beloved farmers. Statistics on Agricultural Production is example. All people can do to concerning our agricultural. Based on my reaction by reading this Module because I realize something. First, The Cereal Production, 2018 the Philippines are below in the top 10 in the World. Same to Corn Production, 2018 is below on the top 10 in the World. But to our Rice Production it is ranked 7th it is 19.07 Millions tons in the World. So, it means the staple food is rice here in the Philippines and we are still importing from Vietnam and Thailand. Because when Philippines are insufficient rice supply. I confuse why we need to import from other country and I realize that sometime happen the crisis of Climate Change or something happen. Rice is important for all Filipinos because rice is the first we need to our daily meal and Rice have a process that can wait until to harvest although others have process. For me the rice is very needed. And last for the Coffee beans Production, 2018. The Coffee beans is one of major commodity crops here in the Philippines. But same as to Cereal and Corn are below on the top 10 in the World. Agricultural Production here in the Philippines are still recovery then we should recover the finances to provide the needed for farming like Cereal, Corn, Coffee beans and also the Rice etc. I conclude that many sectors are they in situation of poverty that’s why our agricultural are affecting. If we continues to being selfish for our nation what will happen to our self or to our next generation?. It will affect to all what we have or needs to our daily living. We should helping each other by invest programs about agriculture or crops that will prevent increasing pest or disaster. As become a Agriculturist I’ll do the right things to help our agricultural industry to become in different agricultural sector are in high ranked for all Agricultural Production to the World. And also doing this by helping other Filipinos.
